From the harsh winds of South Georgia to the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra, from the mountains of Bhutan to the coral shores of Vanuatu, the Belgian documentary photographer and explorer Christian Clauwers travels the world, to seek out distant places in changing times and record the natural world and the people who live in it.

A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in London and The Explorer Club in New York, he has given talks on all the continents and sailed all five oceans to some of the world’s most remote and uncharted islands.

Christian Clauwers will be speaking about his travels and showing scenes from Arctic to Antarctic, with Pacific island states on the way, in a presentation, Seeking out an Unknown World, in the Orkney Theatre on Monday 8 September at 5.15 pm.
