There are several schools competitions, including the solar challenge to capture the sun’s energy at your school. The aim is to try out a new – double-sided – type of solar panel and see how it compares with the standard ones.
Then something for all ages is a wildlife photography competition, judged by wildlife photographers Raymond Besant from Orkney and Richard Shucksmith from Shetland. There are two sections, one for 16 and under, the other for 17 and over.
