WORKSHOP: SIGNING TO KNOW AND SURVIVE IN BSL
With climate issues now so much to the fore, how can Deaf people of all ages be fully involved in all of the discussion? A team of Deaf scientists and researchers focused around the University of Edinburgh has put together a climate workshop in British Sign Language (BSL).
Three of the team are coming to Orkney. Dr Audrey Cameron, leader of the award-winning BSL Science Glossary project, will be accompanied by Dr Gabrielle Hodge and PhD researcher Ley Bergeron who will deliver the workshop.
“We will conduct experiments to better understand the science of water and connect this to flood awareness and preparation. Participants will learn many new BSL signs and share knowledge about science and language. This workshop will be presented in BSL with spoken English interpretation. All are welcome!”
