RECYCLING OCEAN PLASTIC

September 11 → 11:30 am12:30 pm

Phoenix Cinema, Pickaquoy, Kirkwall

Ocean plastic is cluttering beaches and killing marine life. One approach, says Dr Katharina Vones of the Royal College of Art, is to treat it as a resource and turn it into something useful.

She describes a tabletop-scale process which schools and communities can develop, with a shredder and extruder that turns it into filament for 3D printing – and hence into whatever design anyone wants to 3D-print. She will also be providing drop-in demonstrations on the Family Day.
