POWER FROM THE SEA WIND
Phoenix Cinema, Pickaquoy, Kirkwall
The years ahead will bring a big expansion of offshore power generation globally in the push to reduce fossil fuel use. Plans are taking shape for a floating wind farm 21 km east of Deerness, serviced from local harbours, with construction starting around 2029.
Johan Daelman, Lead Floating Foundations Engineer from Thistle Wind Partners, describes the engineering challenges of developing an 18MW-25MW floating turbine, the advancing technology of offshore wind, and its potential applications for the future.
Through special support, tickets for this events are now free, and be booked through this LINK.
