OUTING AND WALK: FLOTTA – A HIDDEN GEM

September 2 → 7:40 am5:15 pm

Join Orkney wildlife guide Megan Taylor of Wild Orkney Walks on a day trip to the island of Flotta.

“Our island adventure will start with the ferry crossing from Houton which goes via Lyness. From the ferry we will keep an eye out for seabirds and cetaceans. Once on Flotta, we will explore the naval cinema and plantation, before enjoying a leisurely walk around the island taking in the wartime heritage, beautiful scenery, a variety of wildlife and of course, the Flotta Penguins! Our walk will finish back at the pier, ready for the return ferry journey to Houton, where again we will keep an eye out for wildlife from the ferry.”

Full Day (7:40 am – 5:15 pm), Medium, £75pp (incl ferry fare)

The walk must be booked in advance and the payment is non-refundable.

A booking link will appear here. We will announce in advance when booking will open for all events.

The Festival ticket system is kindly provided by e-availability, Forres and Inverness.

Megan’s aim with the Festival walks is to take you off the beaten track where you can see some different wildlife and enjoy Orkney scenery.

The maximum group size is 6 people. You are advised to have appropriate footwear for walking, ie walking boots or wellies and warm, waterproof clothing. Binoculars and camera are advisable and please bring a drink/snack with you.

NB Walks will only be postponed if the forecast weather will create dangerous conditions for walking. Otherwise, all walks will go ahead as normal.
