The little shingly beach by Stromness Museum is the setting for an introductory workshop with artist Lin Chau, exploring ways of producing paper using natural resources around us. All equipment will be provided, and material as well, and you can feel free to bring along some small decorative items – such as stamps, string, images or text – to create layering effects and individual style. The session starts with a look at the Museum’s collection of pressed seaweeds that are not normally on view with its Curator Janette Park, and then at around 1.15 pm (just ahead of low tide), activity on the beach gets under way. Afterwards you can go back to the Museum to enjoy more of its many aspects of natural and maritime history. Wear suitable clothing for the weather – just in case!
