FAMILY DAY
There’s a travelling planetarium from Dynamic Earth, and activities from Glasgow Science Centre, the Scottish Dolphin Centre, and the Scottish Seabird Centre as well. You can go on a tick hunt, or learn to computer code. You can see a model of a 2,000-year-old computer from ancient Greece, or find out how to navigate by the stars in the Polynesian way.
With the planetarium there are three different shows. There’s a journey through space at 10 am and 1 pm, a dive into the global ocean at 11 am and 2 pm, and news of astronomy events and discoveries at 12 noon and 3 pm.
You can choose your visiting time. There are morning tickets for the session from 10.00 to 12.30; or afternoon tickets for the session from 1.00 to 3.30 pm.
Ticket prices are £8 & 5 with planetarium, or £5 & 3 without. Here’s a tickets link.
We’ll be posting up more details of the many and varied events which are going to be there, and meanwhile, just looking ahead, we have a special online event this coming Monday afternoon (5 September) which is kindly provided by Macduff Marine Aquarium – it’s a Virtual Touchpool Session. One of their Marine Masters will be on hand to provide top tips on rockpooling, and sharing information about how to spot common species and identify them. It’s an opportunity to learn about the marine life we can find on our shores, and it’s available through this link.
