WALK: TWO BAYS WALK (Cancelled)
Join Orkney wildlife guide Megan Taylor of Wild Orkney Walks for another walk on her local patch in Orphir. We will follow the coastline along Orphir Bay, and part of the Scapa Flow coastline. There is a range of habitats including coastal, rocky shores, heath and farmland with a variety of wildlife to be seen. This walk offers an extension to the short walk round Orphir Bay which is on Saturday 3 September.
NB It is possible to use the local bus service for this walk, Stagecoach service No 2 from Kirkwall to Houton can stop at the end of the Gyre road on request.
4.5 – 5 hours, Medium, £60pp
Megan’s aim with the Festival walks is to take you off the beaten track where you can see some different wildlife and enjoy Orkney scenery.
The maximum group size is 6 people. You are advised to have appropriate footwear for walking, ie walking boots or wellies and warm, waterproof clothing. Binoculars and camera are advisable and please bring a packed lunch with you.
NB Walks will only be postponed if the forecast weather will create dangerous conditions for walking. Otherwise, all walks will go ahead as normal.
